~ A creative painting retreat in Portugal ~

12th - 16th September 2024 in Monsaraz, Portugal

I will be teaching a creative painting retreat in the beautiful medieval village of Monsaraz in Portugal this September!

The retreat will run over 5 days and 4 nights at Sofia in Monsaraz - an idyllic, peaceful space surrounded by nature and away from the city, with local cuisine, fresh produce from the garden and plenty of time for making art.

Through demonstrations and painting exercises, I will show you in detail my painting process and we will explore my favourite techniques and methods for using both Gouache and Acrylic Gouache.

This retreat will give us ample time to become familiar with these processes, experiment and develop our paintings over several days whilst making meaningful artworks together.

We will delve in to colour, texture, composition, decorative elements and so much more during our time in the Alentejo landscape, with everyday objects, plants, flowers and our keen observations as our muse.

A few more details!

- There will be a visit to the farmer's market and tile museum (the tile museum houses the largest and most important private collection of tiles in Portugal!) in the historic town of Estremoz, where we will sketch and gather inspiration.

- A wine tasting event.

- Plenty of time for 1:1 feedback and guidance on your work.

- 4 nights accommodation.

- All transport, including airport transfers.

- Meals prepared using local produce and evenings by the firepit, chatting and making memories together!
